Afghanistan Crush Bangladesh by 7 Wickets: Rashid Khan's Four-Wicket Spell and Rahmat Shah's Unbeaten 67 Seal UAE Tri-Series Final Spot

In the United Arab Emirates, a crucial chapter of the Twenty Twenty Six One Day International Tri-Nation Series was about to unfold. Bangladesh entered the contest with its tournament hopes still alive. Afghanistan stood on the opposite side, ready to turn opportunity into a place in the final. What followed was not merely a cricket match. It was a story of early destruction, determined resistance, a devastating spin assault, and a captain who understood precisely how to finish the job. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. The decision suggested confidence. The opening moments, however, would tell an entirely different story. Yamin Ahmadzai began with ruthless precision. In his opening over, he dismissed Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar on consecutive deliveries. Two wickets, in the space of two balls. Bangladesh's carefully imagined beginning had already fallen apart. And Afghanistan had barely begun. Azmatullah Omarzai joined the attack with equal determination. Najmul Hossain Shanto was removed. Towhid Hridoy followed. Before seven overs had been completed, Bangladesh was struggling at twenty-eight runs for four wickets. Four wickets down. The innings in immediate danger. The pressure almost impossible to ignore. Yet cricket rarely follows a straight line. Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan decided that the innings was not finished. They built a partnership defined by patience and responsibility. Instead of allowing the early collapse to dictate the entire afternoon, they concentrated on survival, strike rotation, and rebuilding. Together, they added ninety-three runs for the fifth wicket. Emon produced a determined innings of seventy from ninety-six deliveries. Saif contributed forty-one. For a while, Bangladesh appeared to have found a path back into the contest. Then came Mohammad Nabi. With the dismissal of Saif Hassan, Nabi broke the partnership that had kept Bangladesh alive. The breakthrough opened the door for one of the most influential performances of the match. Rashid Khan took control. The Afghan leg-spinner transformed the final stretch of the innings. Bangladesh had recovered to one hundred and twenty-one for four. But the recovery was suddenly undone. Wickets began falling again. The lower order could not withstand the pressure. Rashid dismissed Emon leg before wicket and completed a magnificent spell of four wickets for thirty-one runs from eight overs and two deliveries. Yamin Ahmadzai finished with two wickets for twenty-one. Azmatullah Omarzai collected two for twenty-seven. Bangladesh was dismissed for one hundred and sixty in forty-one overs and two deliveries. A promising recovery had ended in another collapse. Afghanistan needed one hundred and sixty-one to win. On paper, the target looked manageable. But Bangladesh still had enough bowling quality to make the pursuit uncomfortable. Taskin Ahmed delivered the first warning. Rahmanullah Gurbaz departed for six. Sediqullah Atal followed for four. By the seventh over, Afghanistan had reached thirty-nine for two. For a brief period, Bangladesh could imagine a remarkable comeback. But standing between Bangladesh and that possibility was Afghanistan captain Rahmat Shah. Rahmat approached the chase with the composure of a player who understood that victory did not require unnecessary aggression. It required judgment. Alongside Ibrahim Zadran, he rebuilt the innings. The pair added fifty-six runs, restoring order after the early setbacks. Ibrahim contributed thirty-four from forty-eight balls before Mustafizur Rahman dismissed him. Another wicket had fallen, but Afghanistan remained in control. Hashmatullah Shahidi then joined his captain. Together, they began closing the remaining distance to the target. There was no need for extravagant stroke play. No reason to invite unnecessary danger. Every sensible run brought Afghanistan closer to the final, while every completed over reduced Bangladesh's remaining opportunities. Rahmat continued to anchor the innings. His unbeaten sixty-seven came from ninety deliveries. Shahidi remained undefeated on thirty-six. Their unbroken partnership of sixty-six runs carried Afghanistan across the finishing line. After thirty-five overs and three deliveries, the scoreboard showed one hundred and sixty-one for three. Afghanistan had won by seven wickets. Taskin Ahmed's two wickets for thirty-six runs offered Bangladesh a measure of resistance, but the target had never been large enough to allow many mistakes. The result ended Bangladesh's participation in the Twenty Twenty Six One Day International Tri-Nation Series in the United Arab Emirates. For Afghanistan, a place in the final against Zimbabwe was secured. And beneath the final score lay several stories worth remembering. There was the explosive opening spell from Yamin Ahmadzai, whose consecutive wickets established the first major advantage. There was Azmatullah Omarzai, whose early breakthroughs deepened Bangladesh's crisis. There was the courageous partnership between Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan, which briefly rescued an innings that seemed destined for disaster. There was Mohammad Nabi's perfectly timed intervention. And then there was Rashid Khan, whose four-wicket spell turned a fragile recovery into a complete collapse. Finally, there was Rahmat Shah. His unbeaten sixty-seven was not built around spectacle. It was built around control, responsibility, and an understanding of what the situation demanded. That combination of bowling aggression and batting discipline ultimately defined Afghanistan's performance. Bangladesh leaves the tournament with difficult questions about its batting consistency. Afghanistan moves forward with the confidence of a team that has demonstrated both its attacking strength and its ability to remain composed under pressure. The next chapter belongs to the final against Zimbabwe. But this match has already delivered a compelling reminder of what makes international cricket extraordinary. A contest can change in two deliveries. A partnership can restore hope. A single breakthrough can undo an hour of patient work. And a captain's quiet determination can transform a promising position into a decisive victory.
