Board is expected to meet again in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning, ahead of the IPL final, and is expected to approve the proposal. Whether this decision will still need ratification at the I.C.C. Annual Conference in Edinburgh in July remains unclear. There are also practical challenges. Some regional qualification events for the 2028 T Twenty World Cup, to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand, have already started. So the biggest questions are still open: when will the Global Qualifier be staged, where will it be played, and how will the existing pathways be adjusted.
