Cricket is known as the Gentleman’s Game, but looks like some people in the Bangladesh cricketing circuit missed that memo. In a shocking development that has rocked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the newly formed integrity unit has gone on a full-scale offensive against corruption. While our Team India is busy maintaining world dominance with pure skill, the scene across the border is getting murky with betting scandals and fixing charges. Yeh khel ke saath dhokha hai, and the hammer has finally fallen.
The Inner Story: Corruption ka Asli Maajra
The BCB integrity unit, which was established in November 2025, has made its first major move by charging four individuals for breaching the ICC anti-corruption code. Among those charged is an 18-year domestic veteran Amit Majumder, whose long career is now under a dark cloud. But the real shocker is the lifetime ban handed to Saminur Rahman, who was associated with the Chattogram Royals during the 2025-26 BPL season. Saminur has been declared an "Excluded Person," meaning he is now officially persona non grata in the global cricketing community. No ground, no dressing room, no cricket: khalaas!
The list of those charged includes high-profile names like team managers Lablur Rahman and Rezwan Kabir Siddique, as well as Noakhali Express co-owner Towhidul Haque. The charges are serious: placing bets, failing to report corrupt approaches, and the classic "deleting WhatsApp chats" trick to hide evidence. It seems these individuals took more inspiration from a crime thriller than from the actual rulebook. Even though Amit Majumder never played in the BPL, investigators caught him and Rezwan Kabir Siddique betting on both BPL and IPL matches. Betting on IPL from Bangladesh? These guys were clearly playing with fire.
Analysis & Numbers: The Charge Sheet
The BCB is not taking this lightly. Under the leadership of Alex Marshall, the integrity unit has laid down the law. Here are the key facts you need to know:
- Saminur Rahman: Lifetime Ban. Found guilty of long-term corrupt activities and money transfers with foreign bookies.
- Amit Majumder: Charged under Article 2.2.1 for placing and accepting bets on cricket matches.
- 14 Days: The time period given to the charged individuals to respond to the allegations or face immediate sanctions.
- BPL & NCL: The investigation covers the 2025-26 BPL edition and two NCL T20 tournaments since 2024.
- Article 2.4.6 & 2.4.7: These charges were slapped on Towhidul Haque and Lablur Rahman for refusing to cooperate and destroying evidence.
The Guru Gyan Verdict:
While we applaud the BCB for finally cleaning up the mess, it is quite clear that the "fixing" virus is hard to kill in our neighborhood. Usually, we see such masterclasses in corruption coming from Pakistan, but it seems Bangladesh is also trying to compete in the wrong department. Betting on IPL matches while being part of a domestic setup is not just stupidity, it is a betrayal of the sport. The BCB must ensure these bans are strictly enforced globally. If you want to learn how to run a league with integrity, look at the BCCI. This is a massive milestone for Bangladesh cricket, but the road ahead is long. Fixers belong in a dark room, not on a cricket field!
