Kerala Announce 18-Player Squad For Ranji Trophy Opener

Kerala Cricket Association ne Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign ke opening match ke liye apni 18-player squad officially announce kar di hai. Kerala Elite Group C mein Jharkhand ke against apna pehla match khelega, jo Jamshedpur mein October 11 se October 14 ke beech scheduled hai.

Squad announcement mein leadership change aur kuch notable selections ne attention draw kiya hai. Vishnu Vinod ko team ka captain appoint kiya gaya hai, jabki squad mein Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Mohammed Azharuddeen aur Basil N P jaise established names bhi shamil hain.

Vishnu Vinod Gets Kerala Captaincy

Kerala ne explosive wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod ko Ranji Trophy 2026-27 ke opening fixture ke liye captaincy hand over ki hai. Vinod ke liye leadership role completely unfamiliar nahi hai, kyunki previous Ranji Trophy season mein bhi unhone Kerala ko interim basis par lead kiya tha.

Us period mein regular skipper Mohammed Azharuddeen available nahi the. Ab new campaign ke start par KCA ne Vishnu Vinod ko officially leadership responsibility di hai, making his captaincy one of the key developments from Kerala's opening squad announcement.

Mohammed Azharuddeen Returns To The Squad

Mohammed Azharuddeen captaincy role lose karne ke bawajood Kerala squad ka hissa hain. Story ke mutabik, Azharuddeen previous Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season ke final match mein Kerala ke liye nahi khele the, jo January mein Porvorim mein hua tha.

Opening-match squad mein unki return Kerala ko wicketkeeping aur batting options deti hai. Squad mein Vishnu Vinod ke captain hone ke saath Azharuddeen aur Varun Nayanar bhi wicketkeeping options ke roop mein listed hain.

Why Sanju Samson Is Not In Kerala's Opening Squad

Sanju Samson ka naam Kerala ke 18-player opening squad mein nahi hai, lekin available information unki current international commitment ko clear context deti hai. Sanju abhi Team India squad ka part hain for the ongoing five-match home T20I series against West Indies.

Story ke according, Sanju recently Japan se Asian Games gold medal ke saath return hue hain. Yeh bhi mention kiya gaya hai ki tournament ke later stage par unke Ranji Trophy 2026-27 fixtures mein Kerala ke liye feature karne ki expectation hai.

Isliye opening match ke squad se unki absence ko poore Ranji season se unke exclusion ke roop mein interpret nahi kiya ja sakta. Supplied information specifically sirf Jharkhand ke against opening fixture ke liye announced squad ko cover karti hai.

Saly Samson Also Misses Out

Sanju ke elder brother Saly Samson ko bhi Kerala ke opening Ranji Trophy squad mein jagah nahi mili hai. Saly ka first-class debut abhi tak nahi hua hai, jo unki current domestic red-ball position ko Sanju se kaafi different banata hai.

Story mein diye gaye details ke according, 35-year-old Saly ne Kerala ke liye sirf do T20 matches khele hain. Yeh appearances Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 season ke dauran late last year aayi thi.

Opening Ranji squad se unki absence ka koi additional selection reason supplied story mein mention nahi kiya gaya hai, isliye iske beyond koi conclusion draw karna supported nahi hoga.
