MCA ने तय किया है कि अगले 10 years में grassroots cricket के लिए Rs 500 crore का corpus तैयार किया जाएगा। यह fund उन जगहों तक पहुंचने के लिए बनाया जा रहा है जहाँ बड़े stadium की रोशनी कम होती है, लेकिन सपने अक्सर सबसे ज्यादा चमकते हैं... school cricket, college cricket, maidan clubs और affiliated clubs. कहानी की सबसे मजबूत परत यह है कि यह सिर्फ एक बार पैसा खर्च करने वाला plan नहीं है। MCA के पास already Rs 100 crore का corpus मौजूद है। Association अब हर year Rs 40 crore add करेगा... और 10 years में total corpus Rs 500 crore तक पहुंचाने का framework बनाया गया है। लेकिन असली strategy principal amount को धीरे-धीरे खत्म करना नहीं... उसे बचाकर रखना है। Ajinkya Naik ने इसे endowment-style model की तरह explain किया। Corpus को fixed deposit जैसे structure में रखा जाएगा... उससे जो interest generate होगा, वही grassroots development के लिए distribute किया जाएगा। यानी कहानी सिर्फ fund की नहीं... fund के टिके रहने की है। Clubs इस support को kits, facilities, logistics और cricket equipment जैसी जरूरतों पर use कर सकेंगे। एक युवा cricketer के लिए kit सिर्फ kit नहीं होती... कभी-कभी वही उसके अगले trial तक पहुंचने का रास्ता होती है। एक maidan club के लिए logistics सिर्फ transport नहीं होता... वही players को competition में बनाए रखने की ताकत बन सकता है। और school या college setup के लिए better facilities... talent को जल्दी पहचानने और लंबे समय तक nurture करने का difference बन सकती हैं। इस AGM में future के साथ heritage भी मौजूद था। Wankhede के three lounges को Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Madhav Mantri और Ajinkya Rahane के नाम पर dedicate करने का decision लिया गया। Dedicated spaces तय करने के लिए committee बनाई गई है। इसी complex में Colonel Dilip Vengsarkar की statue install करने की process भी चल रही है। एक तरफ नए cricketers के लिए Rs 500 crore का roadmap... दूसरी तरफ उन नामों को सम्मान, जिन्होंने Mumbai cricket की पहचान को दुनिया तक पहुंचाया। और फिर आया administration का दूसरा sensitive chapter... MCA already has a Rs 100 crore corpus for this purpose. Under the new framework, the association plans to contribute Rs 40 crore every year for the next 10 years, taking the fund to Rs 500 crore. But the most interesting part is not simply the size of the corpus. It is the structure behind it. MCA president Ajinkya Naik described the plan as an endowment-style model. The principal amount is intended to remain protected, while the interest generated from it can be distributed for grassroots development. In practical terms, affiliated clubs may use that support for kits, facilities, logistics, cricket equipment and other development needs. That changes the character of the announcement. A one-time grant can solve an immediate problem. An enduring corpus, if managed and distributed well, can create continuity. And continuity is one of the quiet currencies of player development. A school cricketer needs more than talent. A college team needs more than enthusiasm. A maidan club needs more than history. Equipment must be available. Travel must be possible. Facilities must function. Competitions must continue. MCA's plan is designed to create a financial base beneath those recurring needs. The AGM also carried a strong sense of heritage. Three lounges at the Wankhede are set to be named after Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Madhav Mantri and Ajinkya Rahane, with a committee formed to decide the dedicated spaces. The association is also in the process of installing a statue of Colonel Dilip Vengsarkar inside the Wankhede complex. In a single set of decisions, Mumbai cricket found itself looking in two directions at once: backward, toward the figures who helped define its identity, and forward, toward the players who have not yet become famous enough to have a lounge, a statue, or even a photograph in the newspaper. There was also a governance question in the room. The National Sports Governance Act, 2025 has become part of a wider conversation among cricket administrators, but MCA did not announce an independent position. Ajinkya Naik said the subject had not been discussed at the AGM and that the association would go by the BCCI decision. That makes the central message of the day even clearer. The defining resolution was about grassroots cricket and the financial architecture required to support it for years, not merely for a season. Now comes the part that no press release can complete: execution. The value of Rs 500 crore will not ultimately be judged by the size of the headline. It will be judged by whether the interest reaches the right clubs, whether equipment improves, whether facilities become more dependable, whether logistics become easier, and whether more young cricketers are able to stay inside the system long enough for their ability to be discovered.
