Delhi ki sardi mein, cricket ke maidan par garmi badhne wali hai! Jab Mumbai Indians, five-time champions, takrayenge apni nayi-navi dulhan si saj-dhaj kar aayi Delhi Capitals se. Yeh sirf ek match nahi, yeh hai pride, history aur ek dum fresh start ki jung! Aur in sab ke beech, uparwale ne bhi apna plan set kar rakha hai, kyunki baarish ka saaya bhi mandra raha hai. Will the weather play spoilsport, ya humein milega ek high-octane encounter?
The Inner Story / Asli Maajra
Doston, history toh yahi kehti hai ki Mumbai Indians ka Delhi Capitals par ek alag hi dominance raha hai. Yaad hai IPL 2025 ka season? Jab MI apne pehle paanch mein se chaar matches haar chuki thi aur Dilli pahunchi thi. Wohi Delhi Capitals ke khilaaf mili jeet hi unke campaign ka turning point bani. Uske baad kya hua? Ek six-match winning streak, aur seedhe playoffs mein entry. That's the Mumbai Indians magic!
Aur is baar ka IPL 2026? Aur toh aur, DC ne pichle season apne home ground par paanch mein se chaar matches haare the – ek hi jeet Super Over mein aayi thi. Toh paper par toh Mumbai Indians overwhelming favourites dikh rahe hain.
Lekin dosto, IPL ki teams ko "Ship of Theseus" kehte hain. Delhi Capitals ki yeh team pichle saal wali team se bilkul alag hai. Naya opener Pathum Nissanka, naye No. 3 Nitish Rana, ek extra finisher David Miller, aur naya seamer Lungi Ngidi. Aur haan, fit-again T Natarajan ko kaise bhool sakte hain? Toh is baar DC se ek much closer contest ki ummeed hai.
Dono teams apne opening games jeet kar aa rahi hain, lekin Saturday afternoon ko sirf ek hi team do points ke saath ghar jayegi. Jab tak baarish party kharab na karde!
Analysis & Numbers
- Team News: Santner joins MI squad
Delhi Capitals is likely to stick to the same side. The only change could be around their impact player. Depending on the match situation, they can pick either Sameer Rizvi or Ashutosh Sharma. Meanwhile, Mitchell Santner has joined the MI squad and should replace AM Ghazanfar in the playing XII. - Delhi Capitals (probable): 1 KL Rahul (wk), 2 Pathum Nissanka, 3 Nitish Rana, 4 Axar Patel (capt), 5 David Miller, 6 Tristan Stubbs, 7 Sameer Rizvi/Ashutosh Sharma, 8 Vipraj Nigam, 9 Kuldeep Yadav, 10 Lungi Ngidi, 11 Mukesh Kumar, 12 T Natarajan
- Mumbai Indians (probable): 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Ryan Rickelton (wk), 3 Tilak Varma, 4 Suryakumar Yadav, 5 Hardik Pandya (capt), 6 Naman Dhir, 7 Sherfane Rutherford, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 Jasprit Bumrah, 11 Mayank Markande, 12 Trent Boult
- In the spotlight: Lungi Ngidi and Jasprit Bumrah
Pichle kuch mahino mein, Lungi Ngidi ek premier fast bowler bankar ubhre hain shortest format mein. T20 World Cup mein unhone 12 wickets liye, economy rate 7.19. IPL 2026 ki shuruaat bhi zabardast ki hai, 3/27 against Lucknow Super Giants. Nicholas Pooran ko out karne wali unki dipping slower one toh Ball of the Tournament ki early candidate hai! Aur dusri taraf hain hamare Jasprit Bumrah. Arguably the best T20 bowler, jiske paas equally deceptive slower ball hai. Lekin Dilli mein unka record thoda average raha hai – Arun Jaitley Stadium mein 8.97 ka economy rate. Yeh ek statistical oddity lagta hai, aur humein pura yakeen hai ki Bumrah isse correct zaroor karenge. - Stats and Trivia: Bumrah vs DC batters
- KL Rahul has a strike rate of 150.53 (140 runs off 90 balls, three dismissals) against Trent Boult in T20s.
- Rohit Sharma has struggled to score freely against Axar Patel in the IPL. He has a strike rate of 91.30 against him (63 runs off 69 balls) with three dismissals.
- Bumrah has kept each of Miller, Tristan Stubbs and Axar quiet in T20s. Miller has a strike rate of 117.30 against him, Stubbs 69.56 and Axar 101.92.
- Among those who have bowled at least ten overs at the death in T20s this year, Ngidi's economy rate of 6.84 is the second best after Mustafizur Rahman's 6.22.
- Pitch and conditions
The match will be played on pitch No. 6, which has been good for batting in the recent past. It's the same pitch where Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 278 for 3 against Kolkata Knight Riders last year. So, expect runs! However, the weather could play a spoilsport. It's expected to be cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms. - Next three fixtures

- Quotes
- Kuldeep Yadav on how spinners can hold their own in high-scoring T20s:
"It's very important for spinners to stick to their strengths. When the batsman puts you under pressure, you sometimes go away from your strengths and search for a safer option to get out of that situation. I feel it's best for me to focus on my strengths, while understanding the batsman's strengths, how he plays, what the situation is at that time, and bowl according to that. And always read batters - what is he expecting from you? Basically, always try to stay one step ahead, predict what he's trying to do, and bowl accordingly. But if your strength is being an attacking spinner, don't let that go, because that's your identity, and if you're trying to get wickets for your team, there can't be a better thing than that, and that's what the team also expects from you. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, but your mindset needs to remain attacking." - MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene on picking between Rickelton and de Kock:
"Quinny [Quinton de Kock] is not upset or anything that he is not playing. He is part of a structure. And we felt Ryan [Rickelton] was batting really well, and we didn't want to change something when it's not broken. So it was an easy decision for us to start with Ryan and have that continuity and back our players to the hilt."
- Kuldeep Yadav on how spinners can hold their own in high-scoring T20s:
The Guru Gyan Verdict:
On paper, Mumbai Indians are the undisputed champions of consistency against Delhi Capitals. Unka pedigree aur current form, especially after winning their first game, unhe ek clear edge deta hai. But let's be real, this isn't the DC of yesterday. With new firepower in Nissanka, Rana, and Miller, plus the pace of Ngidi, they will certainly put up a fierce fight. The Bumrah factor, despite his Delhi record, remains a game-changer. However, the biggest wild card remains the weather. Agar baarish ne mood kharab nahi kiya, toh expect a high-scoring thriller jahan Mumbai Indians apni experience aur bench strength ke bal boote par, thoda upper hand rakhenge. It's MI's match to lose, but DC will make them sweat till the last ball!
