Shane Deitz Exits West Indies Women Coaching Role; Andre Coley Named Interim Head Coach Ahead of Pakistan Series

West Indies men's Test team

A significant coaching chapter has closed for West Indies Women. After three years in charge, Shane Deitz has departed as head coach, with Cricket West Indies confirming that his contract ended on October thirty-first, twenty twenty-six. The decision to part ways was mutual. Yet the significance of this development goes well beyond a change of name on the coaching staff. During Deitz's tenure, West Indies Women reached the semi-finals of consecutive ICC Women's T20 World Cups, first in twenty twenty-four and again in twenty twenty-six. Those two appearances now form an important part of the team's recent competitive record. Cricket West Indies Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe acknowledged that contribution, saying Deitz had taken the side to two consecutive World Cup semi-finals and helped establish a standard the group now holds itself to. Bascombe also explained that Deitz had communicated his plans, and both parties agreed that a clean handover was the best approach. The next phase begins with Andre Coley. The former West Indies men's Test head coach has been appointed to lead the women's team on an interim basis for the upcoming series against Pakistan, working alongside the existing support staff. That detail matters. A transition in coaching can affect preparation, communication, and continuity, especially before an international assignment. Cricket West Indies has made its immediate priority clear: keep the Pakistan series preparations moving without interruption. Bascombe highlighted Coley's experience across the West Indies cricket system, including a Men's A-Team engagement in the previous year, and thanked him for accepting the assignment. For the players, this is a moment of adjustment, but it is not yet a story about a new long-term coaching era. Coley's responsibility is interim, and no permanent appointment has been confirmed in the information provided. Nor has the board announced a match result or a Pakistan series schedule in this update. The established facts are compelling enough on their own. Deitz leaves after three years, two consecutive Women's T20 World Cup semi-final campaigns, and a mutually agreed departure. Coley steps in to oversee the immediate next challenge. The question now is whether West Indies Women can carry forward the benchmark set during the previous tenure while adapting to a new voice.
